Terri Schiavo…Chattel Property…………
Here we banished the Taliban in Afghanistan, and yet in this country we have a situation where it is painfully obvious that men do still own women.
So a convicted murderer is protected from “cruel and unusual punishment”, however, as this situation shows, if you are a disabled woman you have no protection at all. You can be starved and dehydrated to death…..and merely on the say so of your husband.
A husband who has been under suspicion of having something to do with her condition all along……….
But he said that she said she didn’t want to be living like this.
Yeah…sure, Michael….your twenty year old wife discussed this situation with you.
I remember being a twenty year old and that topic was high on my list too………..
And then you only remembered that she said it seven years after she first had the medical problem, and you found a Judge stupid enough to believe you?
Well…in Florida it seems there is no shortage of moronic knee jerk legislate-from-the-bench Judges.
A Judge so stupid that he is basing his entire opinion…and the very life of a human being……. on hearsay from a man who might be part of the reason that Terri is in the condition she is. A man, who hasn’t exactly been the doting, concerned husband unless you are from the Scott Peterson School of husband-ology.
What are you afraid of Michael? That she will wake up and talk?
Because that’s sure what it looks like right now.
So you didn’t allow her caretakers to even clean her teeth for ten years, and you won’t let her go outside to even be in the sunshine….and of course you don’t want her to have an MRI either…..are you going to tell us these were her wishes too? Did she make a secret list that you will find one of these days…or is this, as I suspect, just your version……..
All this is state sanctioned abuse.
For all of you liberal Democrats that thought putting women’s underwear on terrorist’s heads was a horrible thing ….well, guess what kids…this is much, much worse.
This is real torture. And you are approving of it.
If this doesn’t give every woman in America a chill…I don’t know what will.
And mind you, all the people that are standing behind murdering Terri…and that’s what this is…murder……. are the same ones who hold candlelight vigils at prisons when someone is going to be executed for a heinous crime. They are called the far left Democrats.
Terri’s maiden name was Schindler………
but in this country she doesn’t even make the list……..
Not so different from the Taliban, huh?
You’ve come a long way baby…………….

Fireguy........have you read any of the legal documents including the one made under oath by the charge nurse that stated that Michael, the "loving" husband, would ask often "Isn't that bitch ever going to die?"
Why not err on the side of life here?

very interesting Bob. Especially the part about Felos believing he has some ability to look into someones eyes and determine their wishes. what a crock. Just to sell his book. The more you dig there is always a motive.

Please, everyone, read this article from the National Review, it tells alot about what many neurologists are saying about Terri's condition. It also describes the real Dr Cranford and his real role in this case. Terri indeed has never, never recieved the proper diagnosis.

You know Christmas Ghost, I've listened to this discussed a lot on radio and it amazes me the number of MEN who call and want to support the rotten husband, without evidence, which is available, and for it to just be over. Simple for them. This isn't a normal case of a brain dead patient and their saying it a million times doesn't make it so. Something is indeed rotten in Florida.

Thanks for the story. Her so called husband has been co-habitating with a another woman for the last 10 years and they have 2 children. Doesn't he have it made, a wife and a common law wife too? He left his marriage rights on the bedroom floor of his lover. Terri has never even had an MRI or a cat scan. Only in America will you get arrested for starving your dog and you can starve your wife legally. If he was any kind of a decent man, he would have divorced her and let her parents take care of her. He's trying to cut his financial responsibilities by killing Terri.

Ghost, "Yeah…sure, Michael….your twenty year old wife discussed this situation with you.
I remember being a twenty year old and that topic was high on my list too……….."
Major assumption on your part. You do not know the family history or their experiences. Unfortunately in my life by 20, I saw the ulgy side of life. Between the cancer deaths on my mom's side of the family and the motorcyle accident that killed my best freind. I thought about it and I have a "living will" now. To me life without the ability to participate is not life. To be breathing is not enough. If you can not interact, what is there to life?

Isn't it funny to the skeptics that the husband didn't remember that his wife wanted to die until after he received the money he promised would be used for her rehabilitation? He told them he needed money to take care of her for some 50 years. Then he didn't use any of it to care for her? Suddenly, with check in hand he remembers, "Oh yeah, Terri said she didn't want to live like this, she would rather die." Doesn't his integrity come under scrutiny by any skeptic out there?
Why does Terri's family invite the world to come and see for themselves that Terri is not in a PVS state...Their transparency speaks volumes. They have nothing to hide. And why doesn't Michael Schiavo allow for it to happen, after all, if what he has been saying all along is really true, the whole world would see it too. Isn't it obvious he has everything to hide?
I am all for the right of a "loving" husband or wife to make the decisions of life and death for a spouse. That's the way it should be normally. In this case there is far too much evidence and sworn testimony to show that Michael Schiavo has not ever been and now is NOT that loving husband. In fact the evidence suggests he may have committed a crime which put Terri there to begin with. He and his attorney are using what is supposed to be a good law intended to help people not to endure a lingering suffering death to commit a terrible crime with the blessings of the state and federal court systems. On top of it he will burn all the evidence immediately, and the court turns a blind eye.
Lacy Peterson's husband was convicted of murdering his wife and child with circumstantial evidence only. And far less than the evidence Terri's family has against Shiavo.
What truly makes me sick is listening to these skeptics speaking on the news channels. After a minute or less it is obvious they haven't even researched any of the information about Terri for themselves. They are simply repeating old, used rhetoric they heard someone else say . One woman referred to Terri being in a coma last night. These are the experts weighing in against Terri.
Putting the "right to die" issue aside for the moment, a bigger issue here is that we are watching a government sanctioned murder and NOT ONE of those with the power to intervene really seems to understand that except for Terri's family.
This certainly is that generation that believes evil is good and good is evil. How very sad.

History is in the making right now in the Senate. They should send the Federal Marshalls, first to put feeding tubes back in, second, to arrest both that ratbastard schiavo and the blind judge greer.
Remember this you anti-lifers, one day, we republicans will save your life.
You may have no compassion but we do. Always side on the chance of hope. At all costs, we should save lives.

The Senate in washington just called a special session to pass the Incapacitated Persons Act. Lets see how Pattie Murray and Maria Cant-do-well vote on this one. We're watching Maria, 2006 is right around the corner babe.

Christmasghost put it in a way that I can understand but I still have many questions. I did not see the husband as the bad guy but now have questions about his motives. I would like to ask though who should speak for you if you are in a coma or a situation like Terry is in, if not the husband who. Your spouse should be your closest family member, should it not be your husband or wife in a situation like Terry’s, is it not your spouse that you confide some of your most personal feelings and thoughts to?
I also think that this should be a wake up call for a living will, just like your finances your wishes would be in writing. I know that if I were in a situation like Terry’s no matter who is at fault most of this situation would have been avoided. I would not want myself to be tossed back and for by my family and my husband but would want my wishes executed in a timely fashion.

Beautifully written, thank you for bringing this topic up. I think this is about the 'right to life' and what is appalling, where are all our women leaders on this? Womens movement, hello, where are you? This is really scary, considering Million Dollar Baby was a oscar winner, shall we just kill off all our burdensome, disabled, husbands, wives, children? Schinlders list is absolutely correct. Lets just gas the ones we don't like, those that are disabled, useless.
I see the Republicans in Florida and in Washington standing up for this womans life, where are the Democrats? Especially the women.
where is the NOW group. Pro-Choice, what about Terri's choice. How sad is it, she has her eyes open, and there is life in those eyes. You can clearly ses that she desperately wants to speak, but can't. Once before, they told Terri she would die if she didn't speak out, she shot up like a rocket and let out a scream that even brought the Hospice staff running in. She understands. The Judge apparently does not, can a legally blind Judge be trusted to make this decision? Has he "seen" the life in her eyes?
Before this so called accident, Terri was literally being abused by Michael. He called her at least 4 times a day at work, everyday. She was seen with bruises, he made her account for every penny while he continually was unemployed, fired from jobs, an RN in fact, yes he knew CPR. But don't take my expert opinion on abusive spouces. Check out the other websites pleading for Terri's life. www.terrisfight.org also check out the Kate Abramson story, www.katesjourney.com, the reason Kate survived, her husband stood by her side and made damn sure she recieved the care she needed. Today Kate is a great motivational speaker.

I totally disagree with what you have said about Terri Schiavo. You are judging her husband on something you have no knowledge about. Were you there when they were talking? I doubt it.
Would you want to live the way she is? Not me.....

so sad. you have stated the concerns for Terri beautifully.
it is past time that we worry more for victims than the rights of perpetrators.

And what I should have added is please go to this website and contact everyone you can to help Terri......www.helpterri.com
We can only judge our society by how we treat the most helpless in our midst......
