Newsweek Lied….People Died

In yet another repulsive move by the MSM, Newsweek magazine put out a story claiming that according to a source within our government [see mythological creature here] a Koran had been flushed down a toilet to encourage prisoners in Guantanamo Bay to talk.
And because they lied….people rioted in Afghanistan and many of them died.
Responsibility, anyone?
Yet according to a local very left of center Blog, anyone that doesn’t read our nation’s newspapers and news magazines constantly is a moron. I believe he was specifically referring to President Bush.
Of course……..
Could people be any more predictable if they tried?
This is yet another case of the self-loathing-American-news rag striking again……….
Normally it’s just boring, but now it has become hazardous.
Because unlike most Americans, who I believe are smart enough to not pay too much attention to the news rags…sadly that is not the case in third world countries.
Well, at least Newsweek has some readers……..

We need some accountability here. While the far left screams about imaginary slights [see Newsweek, moveon.commie] real slights by Newsweek have now cost real lives........
So where is the righteous indignation?
Yup…I can’t find it either…
And granted in that part of the world it doesn’t take much for people to riot, or to think ill of America…but since we all know that, shouldn’t Newsweek have shown a little more restraint in the first place? Maybe even have a reliable source and then have a second source to check out the story [operative word] to see if it was…oh, I don’t know…actually true?
Didn’t that used to be regular journalistic practice?
I guess they didn’t learn much from Dan Rather after all ………
In their haste to hang us all, they instead doomed people they have never met.

The death throes of the MSM continue unabated.

Jdawg, you are living in a dream world if you think that Sadam did not have weapons of mass destruction. First of all when hundreds are killed at once by a weapon that is called a WMD and that is what happened in Iraq.
Now if Newsweek was not responsible for the riots they were at least the catalyst so they should be accountable. What Newsweek did is the same as someone that walks into a theatre and yells fire that is breaking the law. You can not commit an act that would inflict harm on others without taking responsibility for the outcome in this case death.

the leftist media has been outed after this lie and the CBS Ratherblather garbage. CBS's ratings will not recover and now Newsweek gets to see its readership plummet. deservedly.

the next 10 years will see print and tv media following radio in bringing the republican positive message of personal responsibilty and a strong foreign policy.

liberal lies will be drowned out.

Excuses, excuses.......oh please. Everyone and their brother thought Saddam had WMD's...and he did. He used them many times including on his own people.
Even Kerry....who is a complete idiot....thought he had WMD's.
But aside from that...there is absolutely no excuse for what Newsweek did. It's completely irresponsible.....and the opposite of what good journalism should be.
President Bush had good intentions....now you have to ask yourself what the intentions of Newsweek were. I think, personally, they are pretty self explanatory.....and not flattering to Newsweek at all.
And not good.

A few points....

1) If you think Newsweek caused the 1st American protests in Afghanistan, you're sadly mistaken. 2) The only thing Newsweek is guitly of is unprofessional journalism.
3) I hate to throw out the "A" word, but let's hold the people who actually commited the murders "ACCOUNTABLE".
4) You might have a valid point if you stated that Newsweek "incited a riot", but I wouldn't agree.
5) Funny how the Bush administation jumps all over Newsweek and demands a retraction. How about the Bush Administration printing a retraction on how there was supposed "Weapons of Mass Destruction" in Iraq. Nice smoke & mirror trick Georgie!
