Are We Edging Towards World War Three?

According to a recent poll, the majority of Americans think we are …or will soon be.
But my question to all of you is…are we already in it?
For people my age that grew up with the fears of nukes… and the ensuing emergency drills in school….during which they would make us get under our desks and put our heads down, as we used to joke “so we could kiss our asses goodbye”…I think we all expected some big bang to start the next great big war.
From the Soviet Union………
And as we all knew…those desks were sure going to protect us from radiation.
We did a lot of whistling past the graveyard back then. We were scared but we sure as hell weren’t going to let anyone know that. So we joked about it…but we had nightmares too.
But war is never what you expect it to be.

Ask anyone that either lived during, or fought in, World War Two. Sure, they heard all about what Hitler was doing…but he was all the way over in Europe for god’s sake! How could that ever affect us?
And then he invaded Poland and the Big War was closer.
For most people I think it came as a shock when we were suddenly embroiled in the war.
And now we have all the revisionists’ history of the last Great War.
There are many things that can protect a nation, and a people, from war….or at least from losing a war.
The foremost is vigilance.
They knew that back in the thirties and forties. Have you ever seen any of the old posters or newsreels?
Can you imagine what it would be like today?
Oh, that’s right, you don’t have to.
Thanks to liberal and very destructive groups like the ACLU…you don’t have to imagine ……it’s now called profiling.
That’s right. Calling a snake a snake is now a social crime punishable by long, windy and boring lectures from drones that can barely read and usually smell.
But what really worries me is that they are winning this war of words and if that happens we will also lose the real war if and when it ever occurs.
Probably without a shot ever being fired…………
To be continued…….

Rumors Of This Blog’s Demise

…….are greatly exaggerated.
Actually between the spamming attacks I was subjected to….. thanks to a whiney little Seattle liberal…..and just trying to do too many things at once I just have not had the time to write anything.
Till now…….
At this point I can honestly say that I cannot recommend moving a company and a household at the same time. Not to mention playing whack a troll with spam. It’s a recipe for disaster. Not to mention mild insanity.
But, you know, I just had to try it.
And now that it is almost accomplished I can look back at the last two months and think “what the hell was I thinking?”
Sometimes you just have to do that…….it’s a humbling experience which most of us know is good for the soul.
Or that’s the rumor anyway……….
And I have learned a few very good things to know in the process.
Like people that save boxes for you and help you move heavy furniture are saints. I mean real saints…..not little “I-hope-my-fish-is-cooked-just-right” saints. But real ones.
Kind ones.
So thank you to all of the saints I am so lucky to have in my life……you know who you are……..

Seattle’s Real Claim To Fame…………

As most of you already know, bashing Seattle and its silly stance on everything is one of my pet projects. And not because I’m mean….but just because they deserve it so much.
Well…I finally discovered the one thing that Seattle can really claim as its very own invention.
Skid row………
Yup….I’m not kidding ,and a lot of you Seattle natives probably already know this….which makes it even more interesting that in your desperate search for an identity for Seattle….you fail to mention it. So instead of holding fake mardi gras or pretending to be the “city by the bay”….why not just embrace your real roots?
Skid row…..aka yesler way.
You already have the obnoxious bums so why not just have an obnoxious bum day celebrating your real roots…..skid row.
You invented it…why am I not surprised…..so embrace it.
You know what they say….there is nothing quite so classy as being exactly what you really are.
Skid row.
What could you call the celebration? Skid row…not just for bums anymore?
Be sure to bring your own thunderbird….

Happy Fourth Of July America!

I hope that everyone has a happy and fun filled fourth and that you all take the time, for at least a moment, to think about all the sacrifices from brave Americans yesterday and today that make this day possible.
And to also remember that ,in spite of a few complete idiots [see Seattle] we are fortunate to be living in the most wonderful Nation on the planet.
I was immensely gratified to note that ,in spite of all the dire threats made by state and county officials , there are even more fireworks this year.
The harbor where I live has sounded like a war zone for the last three days and my old dog…..who is not a fan of either thunder or fireworks and looks more like a tick in a fur coat than a dog…..has been giving me the eye all day. As if to say “hey, have you noticed that world war three is raging, or what?”
I’m pretty sure she could qualify to not only vote in King county [ that's a given] but possibly run the entire place with her old-age fondness for bureaucracy.
So happy fourth everyone…….shoot off a few bottle rockets for me.
