Jimmy Carter Take Two...Put A Sweater On Fools.....

Obama/Biden are all for clean coal right?
Right?
Yeah...it seems, not so much..........
And remember this little factoid when you read this: America gets 50% of it's electricity from coal.

Money quote from the idiot Obama:

"The problem is not technical, uh, and the problem is not mastery of the legislative intricacies of Washington. The problem is, uh, can you get the American people to say, “This is really important,” and force their representatives to do the right thing? That requires mobilizing a citizenry. That requires them understanding what is at stake. Uh, and climate change is a great example. [See Orwell 1984...get completely creeped out.]

You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money* on to consumers.
Obama adds..."So, if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can — it’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted."

*Of course the blithering idiot meant to say cost...but what the hell. He just likes to hear himself say one thing in San Francisco and another in coal country....it's his thang, man.....

But it gets better.
Remember when the MSM just howled that Biden had just "slipped up" when he said that he and Obama were against clean coal?
I guess that's true if by "slipped up" you mean telling the truth. Poor Slow Joe he gets slimed for telling the real truth about what Barack is up to.........but come on! It's his job. Did you think Obama chose him for his sterling intellect?
His nickname is Slow Joe....after all.

According to a video posted on a Center for American Progress blog, Biden said, "We're not supporting clean coal. Guess what? China's building two every w eek. Two dirty coal plants. And it's polluting the United States. It's causing people to die."

Biden added, "China is burning 300 years of bad coal unless we figure out how to clean their coal up. Because it's going to ruin your lungs and there's nothing we can do about it. No coal plants here in America. Build them, if they're going to build them, over there; make 'em clean because they're killing you."

West Virginia's Democratic congressional delegation says Biden's words have been misconstrued and believe the state's clean coal initiatives are safe under a Democratic administration.

"Barack Obama is a coal state senator, for Heaven's sakes, and Joe Biden is my friend," said U.S. Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., "Coal has to be part of any national effort towards energy independence and Sen. Obama, who has been endorsed by the UMWA, knows this well. I will continue to do all I can to promote and fund a great future for coal, and I know that the Obama administration will agree."

Byrd's colleague, U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., echoed his sentiment.

"I would only give my full support to a candidate for president who wholeheartedly supports clean coal and I can assure you that Barack Obama is that candidate," Rockefeller said. "He has said it to me and he has told West Virginia, he values our precious American resource and his administration will fight for clean coal. Any suggestion to the contrary is not the Obama energy commitment I know."

And ABC News

ABC News' Matthew Jaffe reports: A conflict over clean coal is brewing on the campaign trail after video surfaced of Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., telling an anti-pollution campaigner in Ohio that he does not support coal plants in America.

Approached following a rally in Maumee, Ohio, last Tuesday, Biden was asked by a campaigner for 1Sky, an organization against the development of new coal-fired power plants, why he supports clean coal at a time when “wind and solar are flourishing here in Ohio.”

The animated, close-talking Biden then put his hands on the woman’s shoulders and launched into a passionate, finger-wagging argument that he and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., do not support clean coal.

Or if you are the kind of person that wants to check it out for yourself...by all means do, just Google *Biden coal remarks* and start reading.........I'll still be here while you read all 216,000 articles.
I'm pretty sure that many people, especially those fond of Kool Aid, will still be convinced that the republicans just made all this up.............
But that's why the rest of us call you mouth breathers.............

To re-cap....America gets 50 % of it's electricity from coal.
And according to Hot Air:

This comes as no great shock, pun intended. Obama already called for a 15% reduction in demand for electricity — at the same time he and his allies want transportation to switch from gasoline to electricity. Obama never explained this particular contradiction. How does one switch tens of millions of vehicles from gasoline to electricity while not Increasing demand, let alone by cutting it 15%? And when trying to break free from a recession, the nation will need greater production in energy, not a reduction.

The coal-based economics of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and other states will be the first to feel this new policy. Let’s hope the voters there pay attention.

Arguing that we should keep the coal industry strong becuase there are good jobs there is like living in 1904 and saying that the buggy industry employees people at high wages so we should not invest or research automobiles. Is this really a plan for long-term economic growth???

"Environmentally sound" wouldn't that mean stopping the production of non-clean coal plants? Obama wants to make the old ones cleaner and only build clean coal in the future?

All of your points could be made about the McCain plan.

ummm....yeah, not so much on your points.
obama has a problem telling the truth.
obviously.
and he is against ALL COAL and since we get 50 % of our electricity from coal at this point, and obama doesn't want any nuke plants AND he expects us to CUT 15% in our electricity usage while also changing cars over TO electricity.....you don't see a problem there?

I don't concede that Obama is against all coal. He has consistantly supported clean-coal.

But regardless I do concede that he is using the other strategies you listed to create a much more viable market for wind and solar. Yes, this may hurt the coal industry. An industry that has done more to pollute the air, water, and land of this country than any other industry.

It seems to me that anyone who is "environmentally sound" would look forward to the end of dirty coal and the rise of green energy.

BEaR KELEY......i am against using things that pollute....sure. but first we have to have a viable alternative, not just buzz phrases like "we want alternative energy". okay, what alternative energy, hmmm?
wind and solar will not do it. and barack's love of ethanol has been proven over and over to not only be a scam and joke but worthless. if we planted every square inch of available farmland to corn, soy whatever for ethanol we could only produce 18% of the national needs for fuel. and it isn't pollution free either.
you know this [you should] and so do i.
what obama is really up to is pauperizing this country both economically and energy wise so he can control it AND all of us.
a vote for him is a vote for the death of America....period. don't kid yourself.
have you seen the troops massing on the lebanese border?
have you wondered why hamas et al are so supportive of obama?
have you not wondered why this guy has no normal decent friends at all? Khalidi? Farrakhan? Wright?
just how many marxist/socialist/racist people do YOU need before you stop and say "hey! wait a minute...."?
start thinking...you are smarter than this!

BEaR KELEY.....i have a web site just for you.
trust me...you know you can right?

CG you are entering my wheelhouse...
The reason that wind and solar have not been ready has been the lack of actions from the right. It took an economic collapse for congress to be able to pass the enormously successful tax credits.
But regardeless of the past, wind and solar are ready NOW. Germany gets 14.2% from green sources. 20% EU-wideby 2020. Did this come from talking about research and building more coal plants. NO!!
It took an actual commitment to DO SOMETHING.

You are smarter than this.

As for "friends", your word not mine. We both know that McCain has a connection to Khalidi, oh and have you forgot Keating, Hagy, Iran-Contra. We can play this connection game all night. But we both know that most of america thinks it is stupid.

Death of America. Newsflash...America has been dying for the last eight years...look around: Warrentless wiretapping of US citizens, torture, CIA secret prisons, government ownership of banks...This is NOT AMERICA and in your heart you know it.

Obama will win not beacuse he is a Socialist or some conspiracy, it is because the country is afraid of another 4 years under a republican. I truly feel bad for McCain and real conservatives like you who got screwed by Bush and the other neo-cons.

PS I am watching McCain speak and he just said "the country is in a ditch"
